Tailored Assistance
This service consists of customized coaching on your specific problems and challenges.
When you have a problem to resolve, or a challenge to face, you
don’t always want to buy a full training class to address it. Tailored
Assistance allows you to request a specific coaching session.
Here are a few examples of the tailored sessions we have done:
- A new project team needed to plan a large project that
impacted many areas of their business. We provided a 2-day planning
session to coach the team in scoping the project, deriving tasks,
estimating effort, assessing risk, schedule creation, and negotiating
deadlines.
- An organization needed to create an auditing process to
maintain the improvements that had been made. A half-day session was
provided to scope and create the process.
- A group manager was frustrated with the poor quality of the
software being delivered to customers. He also didn't know how best to
introduce inspections (code reviews) into the group without causing
resistance. We spoke to the project managers on this issue, organized
and ran several inspection sessions of critical code, and helped the
team establish criteria for future work product selection.
- Numerous process improvement teams (in different companies)
had become stuck on issues such as: moving beyond the analysis phase of
an improvement program, engaging senior management in the improvement
effort, and communicating how Six Sigma, Agile, Lean, CMMI and ISO
initiatives could work together. In each case, we conducted a 1-2 day
session onsite to address these issues.
- A new client needed to put together a presentation for his
manager recommending an improvement approach to address three specific
business goals related to product delivery and staff morale. Over the
phone we conducted a few 2-hour sessions to develop the approach with
them.
- A project team had just completed a re-plan of their work
and realized that they could not add new features for an existing
deadline. We worked with them for a few hours and helped negotiate an
acceptable solution with their marketing team.
